God’s Gift and Your Response

What you are is God’s gift to you. What you become is your gift to God.

• Free will is the ability to act at one’s own discretion. Another word for that is voluntary.

• God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, as we would corrupt it.

  • Example: Sex is to be between husband and wife, not any man and any woman. When you do not go by His standards, we bring it down to perversion. It is not funny how rebelling against God-given values ruins individuals and families.

• Righteousness, peace, and joy are patented by God and are available to us by Him alone. You may ask, where is love in that? Well… all three put together is what love is. In love, there is righteousness (right standing with God), peace, and joy. That is why only God can give it to us.

Romans 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The Consequences of Separation

You will be in a tailspin trying to find fulfillment apart from God. In Him is Life and Light. Apart from Him, it is darkness. In darkness, all things look the same, and all things look acceptable.

• Example: Terrorism, rape, murders, etc.

John 1:1-3: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The Purpose of Free Will

Why did God give free will to us? Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness worth having.

A Call to Transformation

He is willing to transform us… are we willing to be transformed?
